If you’re breastfeeding and have sore or cracked nipples, Medela hydrogel pads support healing and offer instant, soothing pain relief.

To use Medela hydrogel pads for sore or cracked nipples, first wash your hands, open the pouch, and remove the pad. Then, gently place the gel side of the pad directly over the nipple. Before feeding or pumping, remove the pad and place it back on the clear liner. Afterward, gently wash the breast with warm water and pat dry.

Wash your hands: Ensure your hands are clean before handling the hydrogel pad to prevent infection.
Open the pouch: Open the individual pack of the hydrogel pad.
Remove the pad: Remove the hydrogel pad from its plastic liner.
Apply the pad: Gently place the gel side of the pad directly over your nipple and areola.
Remove the pad before feeding or pumping: When it's time to feed or pump, remove the hydrogel pad and place it back on the clear liner.
Cleanse and dry: Gently cleanse the nipple with warm water and pat dry.
Reusable for 24 hours: You can reuse the pad for up to 24 hours, storing it on the clear liner in a cool, clean, and dry place.
Optional cooling effect: For an extra cooling effect, store the hydrogel pads in the refrigerator before use.

Important Notes:

Hydrogel pads can be used for a variety of time frames, such as five minutes, 20 minutes, or even an hour, as long as the pad is on the nipple and areola.
If the hydrogel pad sticks to the nipple, you can apply a little water to help remove it.
If the hydrogel pad becomes cloudy or milky, it should be discarded and a new one used.
Hydrogel pads can provide instant pain relief and help facilitate healing by creating a moist environment.
They also protect sensitive nipples from clothing rubbing against them.
